Keratoconus – A Change In Your Eye’s Shape
What is Keratoconus:
Gradual curvature of the corneas. It occurs when the cornea thins and becomes more cone-shaped which leads to a range of vision problems. It is not generally painful. It can develop over a period of time or suddenly. The physical change in the shape of the cornea is noticeable if affected.
Symptoms:
- Headaches
- Irritation of the eyes
- Eye-strain
- Blurred vision
- Sensitivity to light
- Progressive short-sightedness
- Glare and halos around lights
Treatment:
Normal symptoms can be managed with glasses or contact lenses. Regular trips to your optician will assist early diagnosis. In severe cases, a medical procedure should be followed by consulting a specialist
